Born in 1940 in Mulheim/Ruhr. 1963/66 engineering studies.
1966/71 architectural studies, graduated as Dipl. Ing. Since the
end of 1972 at IL. Major works: Nets in Nature and Technics,
Pneus in Nature and Technics, Lightweight and Energy Technics

RAINER GRAEFE
Born in 1941 in Berlin. Studied theatre science, germanistics and
philosophy in Wiirzburg and Berlin, M. A. in 1968. Working at IL
since 1969. Archeological-constructional-historical thesis on the
tent roofs (vela) of Roman theatres, amphitheatres and similar
facilities in 1977. Fields of work: art theories at the Bauhaus,
temporary buildings, small-scale architecture, historical lightweight
 structures.

JÜRGEN HENNICKE
Born in 1940 in Landsberg/Warthe. Studied civil engineering,
architecture, history of arts and mathematics in Karlsruhe, Heidelberg
 and Stuttgart, graduated as Dipl. Ing., Civil Engineering.
Since 1968 member of the IL, since 1970 collaboration in SFB 64
Research works, teaching, guest lectures abroad, own projects
and buitdings of lightweight structures. Member of AIC, Architects
 + Engineers, Stuttgart, and in Deutscher Werkbund e. V

FREI OTTO
Born in 1925 in Siegmar/Saxony. Studied architecture at the
Technical University of Berlin. Thesis on “The Hanging Roof". In
1957 foundation of “Development Office for Lightweight Structures’.
 Since 1964 director of IL. Professor at the University of
Stuttgart. Office Atelier Warmbronn since 1969. Numerous guest
ectures, consulting, teaching, research works in the field of
ightweight structures. Detailed biography and bibliography in:
