studied German and Philosophy in Würzburg in 1961 - 
62; attended Meisterschule für das Kunsthandwerk, 
Berlin, in 1963 - 64; in 1964 began study of theatre, 
German and Philosophy at the Freie Universitat, Berlin, 
M.A., 1968; began collaboration with IL in 1969; 
studied Archeology in Tubingen, 1972 - 73. 
GÜNTHER GRÖBNER 
born Mar. 23, 1943 in Dessau/Anhalt, Germany. In 
1967 began studies in Architecture at the Universität 
Stuttgart, 1968 Hilfsassistent, since 1969 frequent 
collaborator at IL (Munich Olympics, Grid Shells, Nets) 
LOTHAR GRÜNDIG 
born Mar. 5, 1944 in Laupheim, Germany. 1966 - 70 
studied Geodesics at the Universität Stuttgart, Dipl.-

of the IL since 1967; development of an apparatus to 
measure coordinates in models; cooperation on the 
"Olympia Munchen" Project; cooperation on the IL 
publication " Convertible Roofs" (IL 5). Thesis 1974 
(Studies on the Buckling Strength of Cable-Braced 
Compressional Members); cooperation with Ove Arup 
& Partners, London (Great Britain), since 1974. 
TOSHIYUKI SHIRAYANAGI 
born January 3, 1941 in Shizuoka, 
Japan. Studied Architecture at 
Kogakuin University in Tokyo, 
1959 - 63, B.A. With the Seibu 
Construction Company, Tokyo; 
1967 Design and execution of the 
"Water Flowing Pool" for Qiso 
Long Beach, Kanagawa; 1968 
design of the Kindergardens for Kunitachi-Gakuen, 
Tokyo; 1969 design of the Bowling Building in Niigata.
