DER BETONBAU
Der Baustoff Beton in Form von Zement- und
Asphaltbeton ist der meist verwendete Baustoff
im Hoch- und Tiefbau. Die verschiedenen Betonbauweisen
werden häufig auch als Massivbau bezeichnet.
Die tragende Konstruktion einer unüberschaubaren
Zahl von Gebäuden besteht aus Zementbeton
und die Mehrzahl aller Straßendecken bestehen
aus Asphalt- und Zementbeton.
Um hochfesten Beton herstellen zu können ist
das gleichbleibende, gutabgestimmte Mischungsverhältnis
der Korngrößen, der Zuschlagstoffe
(Siebkurve), die Mahlfeinheit des Zementes von
ausschlaggebender Bedeutung > 1
Anwendungsgebiete: Aus Zementbeton (hier im
folgenden lediglich als Beton bezeichnet) wer
den die tragenden Konstruktionen von Dächern,
Häusern, Türmen, Brücken, Behältern, Dämmen
hergestellt; selbst zum Bau einfacher Schiffe
wurde Beton verwendet
Vielfach werden auch nur Bauteile und Bauelemente
aus Beton gefertigt, wie Fundamente > 2,
Pfähle, Stützen, Säulen, Pfeiler, Decken, Scha
len. Rahmen. Fachwerke.
Aenn sich auch nachweisen 1äßt, daß man mit
festeren Materialien wie Stahl oder Granit grö
Bere Spannweiten oder Bauhöhen erreichen kann.
so stehen Betonbauten dem oft nicht nach > 3
Zumindest im Turmbau > 4 haben Betonbauten
trotz ihres höheren Materialaufwandes annähernd
gleiche Höhen erreicht wie der Stahlskelettbau
Auch im Brückenbau werden gewaltige Spannweiten
erzielt.
also Stützen, Platten, Balken und Schalen.
CONCRETE STRUCTURES
Concrete in the form of cement or asphalt concrete
is the most popular building material in
civil engineering. The various methods of concrete
construction are often called "solid"
construction.
The load-bearing structure of an immense number
of buildings consists of cement concrete and
also most road surfaces consist of asphalt or
cement concrete.
The production of high strength concrete requi
res an accurately maintained and well tuned mi:
xing ratio of grain sizes and aggregates
(screening curve) and an optimised fineness of
~ement > 1.
Applications: cement concrete (in the following
"concrete") is used to construct the load-bearing
structures of roofs, houses, towers,
bridges, containers and dams; even simple ships
have been built of concrete.
In many cases it was only building components
and elements which have been made from concrete
such as foundations > 2, piles, columns, pillars,
ceilings, shells. frames and framed buil
dings.
Although it is proven that materials having a
jreater strength than concrete (steel/granite)
allow greater spans or higher buildings, concrete
structures often do not lag far behind
> 3.
At least in tower construction > 4 concrete
buildings have achieved the same heights in
spite of the areater amount of material needed
Gigantic spans are also achieved in bridge
building. Large and high dams have so far been
the exclusive domain of concrete
Because of its tendency to flow, asphalt concrete
can be used only for relatively level or
slightly inclined surfaces.
Concrete, on the other hand, can be used for
all building elements which can also be constructed
using mud, bricks or stone, such as
walls, arches and vaults.
Steel reinforcement imparts flexural and tensile
strength to concrete > 5 and 6. This
allows forms to be constructed which are closelv
related to wood construction.
